WHO IS ON THE LORD’S SIDE?

Text: Exo 32:26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD'S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

Introduction: The question is still a valid one; Who, indeed is on the Lord’s side?
Man is often impetuous to say, “I am!” without considering what it means. Let us examine the reason for the question and also the positive and negative results of being on the Lord’s side.

I. The reason for the question:
A. They tired of waiting on God.
Exo 32:1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

B. This caused them to tempt God’s priest.

C. He progressed to a deliberate lie
Exo 32:4 And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

Exo 32:24 And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

D. False worship degenerated into revelry

E. Revelry degrades to depravity

Exo: 32:25 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

II The results of this sin to those who followed after it.
A. They provided their own punishment

Exo 32:20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strowed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

1. Salvation by works punishes by holding its adherents in fear.

2. Worship of wealth provides its own bitter cup.

3. Revelry provides sickness and death.

4. All this is as sure as any law of nature, even that of mathematics
Gal. 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

YOU CAN’T BLAME GOD FOR THE RESULTS OF INIQUITY!!

B. After all the bitter harvest, they still faced God’s displeasure

III What the question means to those who take a stand for God.
A. Court decisions and legislated sins make no difference to a consecrated child of God.

B. It must be a PUBLIC STAND. God has no secret service.
be a prepare

C. It must be a prepared stand; through study and prayer.

D. It means a stand against those who oppose God
Exo 32:27 And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.

E. It means the presence of God is WITH those who stand with him.

IV Whose side are YOU on?
A. In salvation?

B. In Service?Home
